Erica Hendry

Erica Hendry makes her debut with Let’s Not Go Overboard Here (Grand Central Publishing, June 2026), a twisty, laugh-out-loud mystery for fans of The Wedding People and The Traitors. The novel follows Melanie Hoffman, a pop-culture-obsessive amateur sleuth who channels her reality-TV expertise into investigating a suspicious disappearance aboard a glamorous yacht in Greece — all while falling for a deckhand and quietly avoiding the grief of losing her best friend. Booklist calls it “laugh-out-loud funny” and “a perfect beach read,” and reviewers have praised its rare balance of comedy and genuine emotional depth.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Hendry lives in Los Angeles, where she works as a creative director. Let’s Not Go Overboard Here draws on her lifelong love of mysteries and her deep, self-described “chronically online” devotion to reality television — she’s known to bring galleys to BravoCon. The result is a debut that uses the language of reality TV recaps to tell a story about friendship, grief, and the mysteries we can’t help but chase.

Hendry’s debut proves that the sharpest detective instincts might just belong to the internet’s most devoted reality TV fans. Hear more when she joins fellow authors on stage at the Salt Lake Book Festival.
