The Salt Lake Book Festival was built from the ground up for this city and the people in it. We welcome readers of all abilities and are committed to providing reasonable accommodations, consistent with applicable law so everyone can take part.

Planning Your Festival Experience

Event Details

The Salt Lake Book Festival takes place from 10am-6pm on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at The Gateway. The festival consists of author conversations and author panels, in addition to local vendors and community partner booths along Rio Grand street. Author conversations and panels are ticketed events. Please see our ticketing page for more information.

Getting to the Festival

Salt Lake Book Festival is accessible by multiple modes of transportation – car, bus, bike, and foot. For driving directions, public transit options, and accessible parking information, please visit our Venue Map page. Festival maps will include locations of accessible restrooms, parking, and elevators. Maps are available in English and Spanish.

Services Available

All Main Stage events and the Jodi Picoult conversation at West High School will automatically feature ASL interpreters. If you require any other accommodations, listed below, please reach out to us at accessibility@saltlakebookfestival.org to request them. If you are purchasing a ticket to one of the author conversations or panels, please add an “Accessibility Services Request” to your ticket and follow the instructions.

If an accommodation is not listed, let us know. While we will make every reasonable effort to fulfill accommodation requests, some requests may not always be possible due to timing, venue limitations, or other circumstances. Any requests received after Thursday, September 17th will be considered on a case by case basis according to resource constraints.

Communication & Language

Outside of the Main Stage and Jodi Picoult conversations, all other ASL accommodations must be facilitated via email prior to the festival. To request an assisted listening device or ASL interpreter for our other venue areas or stages, please send us an email.

Seating and Personal Care Assistants

Expedited entry may be available for attendees whose disabilities require such accommodation. We also provide free admission to any author session for personal care assistants who may be accompanying a guest with a disability.

Service Animals

Legally recognized service animals, or animals trained to perform specific tasks for an individual with a disability, are more than welcome at all book festival venues. There are grassy areas and dog relief stations within The Gateway.

The Salt Lake Book Festival is a celebration of the written word and all of the diverse voices that give it life. We are committed to the ongoing improvement of the accessibility of the festival and the services it provides to better serve our community.

We are working towards a festival where everyone feels welcomed and celebrated. While we strive for all the festival’s day-of offerings and website to meet accessibility standards, 2026 is the festival’s inaugural year and we may not have yet identified the solutions that work the best for everyone.

As we continue to develop the festival, we welcome any feedback that would help us identify barriers and improve accessibility for all. Third-party content, applications, ticketing systems, payment processors, social media integrations, and linked websites may not be controlled by the Salt Lake Book Festival, and may not be fully accessible. The Salt Lake Book Festival is not responsible for the accessibility practices of third party providers, though we absolutely encourage attendees who experience accessibility barriers with any of our partners to contact us so we can assist in identifying alternative means of accessing information or services.
